Ask whether you will use an international department, private hospital, specialist hospital or licensed clinic. Confirm the legal name and address, who schedules the appointment, which identification documents are required and whether the named surgeon will be available on the proposed dates.

Do not rely on a coordinator's description alone. Ask the treating institution to confirm the appointment and payment recipient. If a visiting clinician is involved, verify the date, facility and authorization for that specific visit.

Travel translation and clinical interpretation are different jobs. Confirm who will interpret the consultation, consent, anesthesia discussion, medication instructions and discharge. The interpreter should communicate your questions accurately rather than make medical recommendations.

Ask for enough time to review consent documents. If the final plan differs from the remote discussion, request a fresh explanation of the procedure, risks, alternatives, recovery and price before deciding whether to proceed.

Entry requirements depend on nationality, route, duration and purpose, and they can change. Use the Chinese embassy, consulate or official visa center responsible for your place of residence. Do not make non-refundable bookings until the appointment and entry pathway are sufficiently clear.

Ask which cards, bank transfers or mobile-payment methods the institution accepts, whether a deposit is refundable and who issues the invoice. Arrange a working phone and internet connection for appointment updates and urgent contact after arrival.

Request a treatment summary, discharge note, medication list, test results, implant or device information where relevant and written warning signs. Ask how routine questions will be handled after departure and which symptoms require local urgent care rather than a remote message.

A clinician at home may need these records to provide follow-up. Check insurance exclusions and identify appropriate local care before treatment instead of assuming the overseas provider can manage every issue remotely.
