Start with the result you want to discuss
Terms such as natural, dramatic, Korean style or Chinese style are too broad for informed treatment planning. Use specific concerns, reference images and examples of results you do not want, then ask the surgeon what is anatomically realistic.
A surgeon's portfolio may help start a conversation, but it should include comparable cases, consistent labeling and enough follow-up time to understand the result. Do not assume nationality predicts one aesthetic approach.
Compare the provider-verification pathway
In either country, verify the clinician's identity, registration, specialty, facility relationship and role in the operation. Confirm the facility separately, including anesthesia and emergency arrangements.
South Korea operates a registration and accreditation framework for institutions serving foreign patients through Medical Korea. In China, international patients may encounter public-hospital international departments, private hospitals and specialty clinics. The relevant registry, facility and documentation process differs, so use country-specific official sources rather than applying one country's labels to the other.
Compare the full cost in one format
Request the same categories from both providers: consultation, tests, surgeon, anesthesia, facility, medication, implants or devices, recovery, follow-up and possible changes. Convert estimates on the same date and record whether taxes and payment fees are included.
Then add visa, flights, local transfers, accommodation, companion costs and a contingency allowance. A lower treatment price can become the higher total if it requires a longer stay or offers less included follow-up.

Compare communication and logistics
Ask who interprets during consultation, consent and discharge; how questions are recorded; and whether translated medical documents are available. The presence of English-speaking sales staff does not establish that the clinical conversation will be interpreted accurately.
Compare direct flights, appointment lead time, accommodation close to the facility and the ability to remain longer if needed. If you already travel regularly to one country or speak the language, that familiarity may materially improve the practical pathway.
Make the decision at provider level
Shortlist clinicians in both countries using the same questions. Eliminate any option that will not identify the treating surgeon, explain material risks, provide written terms or define follow-up. Then compare the remaining options based on relevant experience and how well the plan fits you.
